Laughter can fix all

Yesterday eve was actually amazing.
I caught up with one of my lovely best friends for a few hours. Sometimes all you need to cure a blah week is talks with a great friend.... who always laughs at your sometimes not so funny jokes and one-liners.

This post is going out to her... as she is the only friend I have yet to actually give the link of this bloggy blog to. ;)
Here is a awful retro photo of us from our first year together.

I love you girl.

Do you have issues staying on tasks and not getting distracted at work?

I few months ago I can across from this post on Mashable about productivity no matter where you work : http://mashable.com/2010/09/27/productivity-tips/

I really enjoyed the ideas brought up for working within a office and have decided to come up with my own tips.

1. Keep your work space clean: I cannot tell you how many times within my office or at home when I was in school that I couldn't focus due to a mess. Treat your workspace as a santuracy. Why are spas so amazing? They are peaceful, relaxing and quiet. So make your workspace as close to this as possible. Keep desks clean of clutter and mess. It will be easier to complete tasks when you have space.

2.Check your e-mail and then close it: Its so easy to get bogged down reading emails, either by reading them and not responding right away or having the urge to constantly check to see if you have received a new email. Resist the urge! Check your e-mail once in the morning and once in the afternoon,  don't worry that you will miss something urgent. If its urgent, you will be called or something will come directly to you. E-mail should not be used to urgent messages. Checking it over and over just bogs down time.

3. Do not open your e-mail for the first hour of your time in the office: Now this one's a little harder to do but so worth while if you can complete it. I find e-mail gets you into a different mind-set and changes the whole day. After getting settled into your workspace, completeing a project or tasks prior to checking your e-mail gives you the sense of accomplishment and e-mail will sadly never provide.

4. Check-lists!: I am a huge fan of check-lists, to do lists, whatever you want to call them. They give you a chance to collect your thoughts on what you need to get done over the next day, week, month, its up to you the time-frame. They are also a good reference for you when you can't recall stuff and it feels great to knock something off that list.

5. Breaks: My last tip today is to make sure you take a breather every once in a while. This may be a quick walk around the building, running into a cafe or water cooler to grab a drink or saying hi to a co-worker. Its important to let your mind and in some cases typing fingers rest for a few seconds, before contiuning or moving onto a new project.

Well that's all for today. Lots of work to do..... so I will leave with this amazing video I forgot about. Its by Future shorts who do these mini movies, check out this one.. or a list of others.

This one is my fav.
